The Millau Viaduct — 5 minutes away
You cannot pass through Millau without looking up at the Millau Viaduct, the world's tallest cable-stayed bridge at 343 metres. Designed by Norman Foster and opened in 2004, it rests on 7 piers that seem to float above the Tarn valley. From the campsite, allow 5 minutes by car.
On site: the Espace Découverte offers a free permanent exhibition on the construction of the viaduct. A panoramic viewpoint with belvedere is freely accessible. ULM and paragliding flights are organised from Millau for a unique aerial view.

The Gorges du Tarn — 24 minutes away
24 minutes from the campsite, the Gorges du Tarn stretch for 53 kilometres between 500-metre limestone cliffs. Listed as a Grand Site de France and Natura 2000 site, they are among the most beautiful natural landscapes in Europe.
The flagship activity: a canoe or kayak descent between La Malène and Les Vignes (9 km, around 3 hours). Turquoise water, medieval villages clinging to the rock and natural pools for swimming make it an unforgettable family day. The campsite offers canoe rental and shuttle organisation.

Roquefort-sur-Soulzon — 25 minutes away
25 minutes away, the village of Roquefort-sur-Soulzon is home to the natural cellars where the famous AOC cheese has been aged for 2,000 years. The fleurines, natural fissures that ventilate the cellars at 8°C and 95% humidity, together with the region's endemic Penicillium roqueforti, give the cheese its unique blue-green marbling.
A visit to the Société caves (immersive 4D scenography) or the Papillon cellars lasts about an hour and ends with a tasting. A local producers' market is held on Wednesday mornings.

Montpellier-le-Vieux — 30 minutes away
Montpellier-le-Vieux, nicknamed the 'City of Stones', is a 120-hectare dolomitic rock chaos on the Causse Noir plateau. 190 million years of erosion have carved arches, pinnacles and secret passages resembling a ruined city. Famous formations — the Gate of Mycenae, the Sphinx, the Elephant — fascinate young and old alike.
On site: 4 marked trails (from 45 minutes to 3 hours), a guided tourist train, a tree-top adventure course with panoramic zip lines and several viewpoints.

Can you visit the Millau Viaduct on foot?
Pedestrian access on the viaduct deck is not permitted. However, the panoramic viewing area and the belvedere below can be reached on foot free of charge. Hiking trails run alongside the Tarn valley with an unobstructed view of the structure.
What is the best season to visit the Gorges du Tarn?
June, July and August are ideal for canoeing (warm water, steady flow). May and September are perfect for hiking (fewer crowds, mild temperatures). Avoid during flood periods (rainy spring).
Can you cycle from the campsite to Millau?
Yes, the campsite is just 2.5 km from the centre of Millau. The road is cyclable (partial cycle path). Bike hire shops are available in town if you wish to explore the surroundings or the Causse roads.
